SOLAS Child Lifejacket NZ — MED Certified | 15–43kg | Hi-Viz Foam
A SOLAS-compliant child lifejacket is a mandatory requirement on any surveyed commercial vessel carrying children — and an essential piece of safety equipment for families heading offshore or cruising the Pacific Islands. This MED-certified child lifejacket is sized specifically for children weighing 15–43kg and measuring 100–155cm in height, providing permanent foam buoyancy that requires no inflation, no activation, and no adult assistance to work.
If a child goes overboard, this jacket works immediately — no CO2 pull cord, no manual action required.
MED type approved. SOLAS reflective tape fitted as standard. Whistle included. Available ex-stock Auckland.

Why foam for children?
Children cannot be relied upon to activate an inflatable lifejacket in an emergency — panic, cold shock, or sudden immersion can make it impossible. A foam lifejacket provides immediate, automatic buoyancy the moment a child enters the water — no action required by the child or anyone else. For children on board, foam is the only sensible choice.
At what age or size does a child need a SOLAS lifejacket?
This jacket is approved for children between 15kg and 43kg (approximately 3 to 12 years depending on the child). Below 15kg, an infant-specific lifejacket is required. Above 43kg, the adult 150N SOLAS lifejacket is appropriate. If you are unsure, contact us — getting the right size is critical.
