A SOLAS-compliant 150N lifejacket is a mandatory requirement on all surveyed commercial vessels in New Zealand — and the recommended choice for any offshore recreational sailor heading beyond coastal waters. At 150N buoyancy, this lifejacket is designed to turn an unconscious person face-up in the water and keep them there, protecting the airway while awaiting rescue.

EC, MED, and Ships Wheel approved. SOLAS reflective tape fitted as standard. Whistle included. Available ex-stock Auckland.

Why 150N?
Lifejackets are rated by buoyancy in Newtons. 100N jackets keep a conscious person afloat in calm water. 150N is the SOLAS standard — it provides enough buoyancy to turn an unconscious person face-up in open water and maintain that position in rough conditions. For offshore passages, commercial vessels, and any situation where rescue may take time, 150N is the correct specification.
