Floating Safety Knife NZ — Fixed Blade Liferaft Knife | Marine Survival
In a liferaft emergency, a knife is one of the most critical tools on board — for cutting tangled lines, freeing snagged equipment, or cutting yourself free from rigging after a capsize. This fixed-blade floating safety knife is designed specifically for use in and around the water, with one essential feature that sets it apart from a standard knife: a blunt, rounded secondary edge that protects inflatable liferaft tubes from accidental puncture.
If it goes overboard, it floats. If you need it fast, the fixed blade is ready instantly — no folding mechanism to fumble with in wet, cold conditions.
Available ex-stock Auckland.

Where it’s used:
Why a blunt secondary edge matters:
In a liferaft, the inflatable tubes are your only flotation. A standard knife with a sharp point or double-sided blade can puncture a tube in an instant — in poor visibility, rough conditions, or while wearing gloves. The rounded, blunt secondary edge on this knife allows you to work safely in and around inflatable equipment without that risk.
Why fixed blade over folding:
Cold hands, wet conditions, and emergency stress make folding knives difficult and slow to deploy. A fixed blade knife is ready the moment it leaves the sheath — no joints to operate, no mechanism to fail, no delay when time matters.
Suitable for: Offshore yacht grab bags, SOLAS liferaft survival kits, RIBs and inflatable tenders, coastal emergency kits, fishing vessels, charter boats, and any person operating in or around inflatable safety equipment in New Zealand and the Pacific Islands.
